Work with Cedar:
Artist, Gallery Owner, Art Instigator
“I promise to deliver unique, authentic, and quality artwork and art services. As I continue my own evolving creative path, I am moved to assist others with their own art journey to enrich both individual lives and the community we share because art is for everyone.
My mission is to bring art down to earth; to provide accessible art to the openly curious minds and hearts directly from the artist; and to provide meaningful and beautiful artworks that will induce repeated quiet moments of discovery, memories, or reflection. I will strive to make art that contributes to the creation of empowering atmospheres that embrace our best selves and that remind us of who we are, who we were, or who, by our choosing, we might become.
For my community, I strive to blend my decades of artistic skills, small group teaching experiences, and my time-invested material knowledge with my empathy and cultivated eclectic spirituality as a chaplain to bring meaningful experiences to others thru artful activities that may enrich all parts of their being, no matter where they are on their art or life journey“

Heidi Swenson
Artist Statement: “My name is Heidi Swenson, and I grew up in a family of six children in the small town of Chili, Wisconsin outside of Marshfield. I enjoyed growing up on 80 acres with my family, and I continue to incorporate nature into my artwork from things I’ve seen in my childhood. I studied art at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and graduated in May of 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. Soon after graduating I got married and traveled with my husband to Alaska, Wyoming, and then back to Wisconsin. I have painted and drawn landscape scenes, or of the Alaskan culture while living in the two different states. I have been in art shows at the Ava Art Center in Gillette Wyoming, and the Western Texas Trail Museum in Moorcroft, Wyoming. My favorite medium to work in is drawing with chalk pastels and pencil on sketch paper. I have incorporated colored spray paint with chalk to my mixed media nature drawings. The spray paint i think gives my drawings more depth with the materials I use that I find in nature, like different leaves, and twigs. With my art I like to show bold colors, and also just slight hints of outlines to make the viewer guess what the object really is. My artwork can take on a whimsical, and imaginatory feel with the variation of colors and marks. Upon request I do submission artwork, and can draw portraits from people, to animals, and try to tailor to how the customer would like their piece to look like. My husband, I and my three boys currently reside in the Town of Adams, and I’m currently employed as the Roving Substitute Teacher at AFE Elementary in Adams-Friendship, Wisconsin.”

My Journey
“I am a retired educator, wife, mom and grandmother, and alumnus of Alverno College and Viterbo University. I have been sewing and creating with fabrics all my life. At first, necessity fueled my sewing skills making functional clothing and other items but later my desire to create something beautiful, something useful, something fun, or just something others may love, took over. I love to recycle and reuse fabrics and materials finding a new purpose for them and sharing those creations with others. My favorite projects of late include quilts, unique pillows, and wool blend felt objects as well as toys for children that require their imagination and creativity. Going forward, I am continually searching for inspiration from scraps of forgotten fabrics, misplaced buttons, fanciful ribbons or anything that could be sewed and repurposed like colorful bird seed bags. My projects are like the Magpie birds who look so plain at first glance but flash their colors when they finally fly! My wish is that others enjoy my creations just half as much as I enjoyed making them!”
