About

Work with Cedar:

Artist, Gallery Owner, Art Instigator

I promise to deliver unique, authentic, and quality artwork and art services. As I continue my own evolving creative path, I am moved to assist others with their own art journey to enrich both individual lives and the community we share because art is for everyone.

My mission is to bring art down to earth; to provide accessible art to the openly curious minds and hearts directly from the artist; and to provide meaningful and beautiful artworks that will induce repeated quiet moments of discovery, memories, or reflection. I will strive to make art that contributes to the creation of empowering atmospheres that embrace our best selves and that remind us of who we are, who we were, or who, by our choosing, we might become.

For my community, I strive to blend my decades of artistic skills, small group teaching experiences, and my time-invested material knowledge with my empathy and cultivated eclectic spirituality as a chaplain to bring meaningful experiences to others thru artful activities that may enrich all parts of their being, no matter where they are on their art or life journey

Mike Kurth

Bio: Many years ago, Mike became an avid fan of traditional archery. This led to his interest in working with leather. As time went on, he continued to work his craft following the Mountain Man traditions. In 2008, Mike married his wife Becky, and after retiring from their professional careers, they decided to merge their creative ideas to start their business New Dawn Trading Company which offers a wide variety of leatherworks in the traditional styles found in the Mountain Man Historical Rendezvous and Traditional Archery. From purses, earrings, journal covers, bookmarks, barrettes, wallets, antler art, and unique items of various leathers and furs. Mike enjoys the challenge of taking on custom works and leather projects for his clients who always comment on the beauty and craftsmanship of his fine work.

Becky Kurth

Bio: Hi, I’m BK, a creative grandmother, artist, and author living a peaceful, joy-filled life in the countryside. I’m also a retired wife, mom, and proud grandma who spent years working as a Professional Accountant and even ran a stained-glass business back in the day. Now, I’ve fully embraced my passion for creativity and storytelling.

These days, you’ll find me exploring all kinds of projects as a creative grandmother, artist, author and blog writer. I love digital design, photography, and writing. I’ve created everything from children’s storybooks to journals and puzzles that help keep our minds sharp as we age. I wrote a sweet adventure storybook called Playtime in the Forest With Friends for little ones, and I’ve also put together fun coloring books for kids and memory-boosting puzzles and journals for seniors.

Crafting has always had a special place in my heart: sewing, DIY projects, and more. Some of my digital designs are available on items in my Etsy shop: bkdesignsbooksnmore.etsy.com. My husband and I also run a little pop-up store called New Dawn Trading Company, where you’ll find our homemade jewelry, leather journals and bags, rustic home décor, photography, and digital art. It’s just another way we get to share what we love, with me embracing my role as a creative grandmother, artist, and author.

I also write under the pen name Marie Faye Compton, a little tribute to my mom, whose loving, independent spirit has always inspired me. I’ve got a few novels in the works under that name—hope to bring those to you soon!
